Parent Participation

Parents are warmly invited to participate in and support the life of the College. Opportunities to support the College occur at a range of levels.

The most helpful support parents can give is to work in partnership with the College to ensure our students receive consistent messages from school and home. Regular checking of Home Study and assignments and attendance at Parent Information Nights or Parent/Student/Teacher interviews shows students their parents are interested in them. We want our students to have personally rewarding and successful experiences, and to be positively engaged in our community.

The College Board of Governance has a number of positions reserved for parents. The Board plays an important leadership role in collaboration with the Canonical Administrators and Principal. The Board's responsibilities include ensuring the Catholic identity of the College is sustained; developing long-term strategy and policies; maintaining oversight of educational standards; monitoring the finances; and representing the College in professional forums as appropriate. Appointment to a position on the Board is by application and interview.

The College Canteen provides a great avenue for parent volunteers to meet other parents and to ensure our students have quality food available at reasonable prices. Volunteers assist with the provision of hospitality for special events.

All volunteers require a current Working with Children Check card.

The St Clare Service Award is presented to a parent or friend of the College who has contributed to the development of the College, through service in a professional, pastoral or leadership capacity, over an extended period.
