Empowering Minds and Hearts: Exciting Opportunities and Community Spirit at Ave Maria College

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

As we progress through Term 2, I am filled with excitement for the wonderful opportunities that our students have been able to experience. Our commitment to providing a holistic education that nurtures mind, body, and spirit continues to shine through our diverse programs and activities.

School-Based endeavours include:

Faith Formation Days: These special days are dedicated to deepening our students' faith and spiritual understanding. Through prayer, reflection, and engaging activities, students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God.

Student Wellbeing Days: Promoting student wellbeing is a priority at Ave Maria College. These dedicated days provide students with strategies and tools to support their mental, emotional, and physical health, ensuring they thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Master Classes for Senior Students: Our senior students will benefit from Master Classes that provide advanced learning opportunities in specialized subjects. These classes are designed to enhance their academic skills and prepare them for further education and career success.

CGSAV Sporting Competitions: Our participation in the Catholic Girls Secondary Association Victoria (CGSAV) sporting competitions allows students to showcase their athletic talents, teamwork, and school spirit. We look forward to cheering on our teams.

Student Leadership Formation: Our ongoing Student Leadership Formation program is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. This term, we have continued to develop the leadership skills of our students, fostering a sense of responsibility, service, and community engagement.

Year 9 Camp: The Year 9 Camp continues to be an exciting adventure, focused on building resilience, teamwork, and personal growth. It’s an opportunity for students to bond, overcome challenges, and create lasting memories.

Humanities Week: Humanities Week immersed students in the rich world of history, literature, and social sciences through interactive activities, guest speakers, and projects. It’s a wonderful opportunity to inspire a deeper appreciation for the humanities.

Careers Week: Designed to guide students in exploring their future pathways, Careers Week offers workshops, panel discussions, and resources on various professions and educational opportunities. It is always a wonderful opportunity to welcome back our alumnae as part of this week as they provided an invaluable resource for planning their future.

Community endeavours include:

Mother’s Day Breakfast: We had the pleasure of hosting a very successful Mother’s Day Breakfast, featuring Eloise Southby as our guest speaker. Her inspiring talk resonated with all attendees, making the event both memorable and uplifting. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and honour the mothers and special women in our community.

Year 7 Special Persons Mass: This beautiful Mass is a highlight of the term, allowing Year 7 students to honour and celebrate the special people in their lives. It’s a heartwarming event that strengthens our community bonds.

LFCIA Soccer Skills Program: This program is being offered for the first time this year to young people who live in the local area by offering soccer skills development workshops for students in grades 4, 5, and 6. This initiative helps young students cultivate both the soccer skills but also important life values that align with both the LFC and Ave way of developing young people. Together, we foster a spirit of collaboration and mentorship that benefits both the primary students and our own community.

She Who Explores: Food Technology Program: We are excited to have introduced a new Food Technology Program specifically designed for prospective Grade 5 and 6 students. This program provides young students with an opportunity to learn cooking skills in a fun and interactive environment. Not are they gaining valuable culinary knowledge, but they will also have had the chance to meet and connect with peers their own age, easing their transition to Ave Maria College. It's a wonderful way for them to experience our vibrant community and start building friendships before officially joining us.

Feeder Primary School Visits: These visits provide an excellent opportunity for me to meet with the principals of our feeder primary schools, building connections and partnerships, so that we are actively looking for ways to collaborate for the benefit of both our communities. In doing so this ensures a smooth transition for students by fostering a shared commitment to educational excellence.

Call for Parent Volunteers

We are immensely grateful to our parent volunteers whose contributions make a significant difference in our school community. We are currently seeking volunteers for the College Canteen, Property and Finance Committee, and the Policy and Curriculum Committee. Your involvement is invaluable and deeply appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please email

As we continue throughout this term, let us take a moment to reflect and give thanks for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Please join me in prayer:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations.

Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

On behalf of the College, I hope that this prayer is a guide to inspire us all to embrace opportunities with faith, courage and confidence. Wishing you all continued successful throughout the remaining weeks of Term 2

God bless and may we continue to strive for truth through love.

Yours faithfully,

Ms Tanya Hutton
