Design Thinking is a new course at Ave Maria College about problem solving and testing possible hypotheses and solutions in the micro business setting of running a school cafe.
To start this the students developed their coffee making skills on professional coffee machines through a four hour lesson and achieved their Level One Barista Certification.
Over the next few weeks students will be problem solving their way through questions such as: How often should they open the coffee cart? Should they sell coffee to junior students? Should they use fair trade coffee beans and environmentally cups even if it means less profit? How can they best market ourselves to the school?
We look forward to seeing how this develops over the course of the year.
