Mission Action Day
On Friday, 22 March the annual Mission Action Day sponsorship fundraising event took place. The event raises money and awareness for our sister school St Maria Mazzarello in Venilale, Timor Leste. The school educates young women and provides food technology and hospitality training.
This year the event was further supported by the Ave Maria Senior Student Leadership Team’s “12 Month of Empowerment” initiative. College Captains Eliza Gollant and Natalie Cierpisz promoted social awareness during “Make a Stand March.”
As part of this campaign Year 12 students, Natalie Cierpisz, Hannah Shaw and Hannah Portelli cut over 20 centimetres of their hair and donated it to Sustainable Salons. This organisation makes wigs for people suffering from alopecia or medically induced hair loss.
A GoFundMe page was created raising $2485 exceeding the $2000 target set. Together with the sponsorship money collected by our students all money will be donated to our sister school, St Maria Mazzarello.
