Timor-Leste Immersion Trip
An incredible opportunity, yet again saw students and staff travel to Timor-Leste for a week of immersion. One of the students who attended shares this reflection:
After weeks of planning and excitement for our trip, the day had finally come for us to travel to Dili. When we arrived in Dili in the mid 30 degree heat, we were greeted by Br Marcel, who took us to our location for the night and for a small drive around the city to get an aspect of the life and culture on a daily basis in the country of Timor-Leste. I enjoyed every moment of our week and I could never have asked for anything better. The students made us feel very welcome and I feel so grateful for having the opportunity to help teach English, play sport and participate in cultural activities with them. I really felt like I had the chance to put myself in their shoes and immerse myself into the life and culture of a
Timor-Leste student. At the start of my Ave Maria College journey back in Year 7, I would never have expected myself to be able to get this opportunity to do this amazing kind of work, and that’s why I would like to thank everyone involved in this incredible journey in helping me make it one to remember.
