Year 10 Personal Development Day

09 April 2019

On Friday, 29 March 2019 the Year 10 cohort participated in a Personal Development Day which taught us many valuable life lessons.

The day consisted of insiders who passed on their knowledge, life skills and important messages that were discussed and considered by all. We participated in Yoga and an Art Therapy class which taught us a great amount of mindfulness and allowed us to be connected to ourselves. This class also gave us the opportunity to unwind and distress as many begin to feel overwhelmed with the Year 10/VCE curriculum.

A young group of study skill providers known as “Elevate Education” taught us organisational skills and ways to not procrastinate, allowing us to not only put these vital skills into immediate action but to also teach us how to use them in the future. We were all very eager to partake in this seminar, keen to retain these skills and learn how to put forward our best results in school.

After this activity we were submerged into the world of self-defence and were provided with a foundation to our up and coming self-defence course. This class brought eye opening facts and allowed us to obtain a taste of what is yet to come.

The most touching part of the day was when Ben from True Vision provided us with his life changing and inspiring story of how becoming blind at the age of 16 taught him that it is crucial to look at ourselves and the world around us from the inside out. He showed that with every obstacle or challenge, we can overcome it when we believe in ourselves and look at our strengths rather than our limitations.

Overall these seminars were a rewarding experience as each and every student was provided a life changing skill or message.
